Conferencing

As part of AARNet's National Video Conferencing Service (NVCS), AARNet customers have access to two Codian Multi Conferencing Units (MCU) to support audio and video multi-point conference calls. A MCU system enable end users that are conversing via a phone or video endpoint to scale the participants beyond two (as is the case in a point-to-point call) to many-many which is often required to support meetings or collaborations.

The AARNet's Standard Definition and High Definition MCUs are located on the AARNet3 network giving full access to multicast as well as unicast streaming. The MCUs support up to 60 available ports (1 port per video conferencing end-point).
